Spectators gathered June 8 on the concourse at National Defence Headquarters as the Canadian Defence Community Banking (CDCB) program launched a special mortgage offer specific to the National Capital Region (NCR).

Right now, when authorized patrons take out a mortgage at BMO Bank of Montreal, the official bank of the CDCB program, BMO will donate $100 to the 2010 Canada Army Run which supports the Military Families Fund and Soldier On.

"Although this is our official launch, BMO Bank of Montreal did a soft launch on May 1st and I’m pleased to announce that over the course of the month of May, we were able to assist 18 members of the defence community and their families take care of their housing needs and their financial arrangements.  As of today, we’ve already raised $1,800 for the Army Run," explained Carolyn Booth, Vice President of BMO Bank of Montreal for the Eastern Ontario District.

The Canadian Forces Support Unit Ottawa (CFSU(O)) hosted the event, which also served as an opportunity for the defence community in the NCR and BMO Bank of Montreal build on their already strong relationship.  In her closing remarks, Captain(N) Bisson, then Commandant of the CFSU(O) indicated that the defence community couldn’t ask for a better partnership.

"What’s really nice to see is that not only are they launching their campaign in support of the Army Run but also the fact that they have partnered with the Canadian Forces and the total defence team to offer us some incredible opportunities for banking services," remarked Capt(N) Bisson.  "A lot of times when we give money to a bank we don’t see a lot of it back.  But in this case, it’s going back to our families."

The BMO Bank of Montreal mortgage offer is valid only at branches within the NCR and Petawawa.  Mortgage funds must be advanced by October 31, 2010.  Visit a BMO branch or go to www.bmo.com/mortgagespecialist to find a mobile Mortgage Specialist who can come to you.

Since November 2008, BMO Bank of Montreal has been the official bank of the CDCB program.  The program offers a broad range of banking products and services uniquely suited to the needs of the defence community.  It provides great value and is available to Canadian Forces (CF) Regular and Reserve Force members, retired and former CF members, Department of National Defence employees, the Staff of the Non-Public Funds, Canadian Forces (NPF) and family members.
