SISIP Financial Services announces premium rate reductions to their Long Term Disability plans

As officially announced by the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence, the Government of Canada (GOC) will fully cover the SISIP FS LTD insurance premiums for service- related injuries and illnesses. With the announced changes, the GOC will pay 100% of the premiums for service-related injuries and illnesses for Regular Force personnel.


SAR Tech Receives Prestigious Award

For his work in helping Canadian Forces members who have been severely injured or disabled, Sergeant Andrew McLean was awarded the King Clancy Award in Toronto on February 9, 2009. Sgt McLean, a search and rescue technician at 8 Wing Trenton, is a co-founder of the Soldier On program that aids people in recovery from disability, whether from accident or illness, through sports and active living.


Voices unite in support of our troops

A choir composed of families and friends of military members joined its voice to the Royal 22e Regiment Band as a way to support the troops when they are deployed.


Initiative Coventry

A small group of people had an idea to inject more dynamism into their working group and bring the entire staff on board. Their idea blossomed into the "Coventry Initiative" with a goal to promote health development within the civilian and military staff of the Department of Defence, including Director Casualty Support Management (DCSM) employees, who work at 285 Coventry Road.


The RCL Troop Morale Fund gets much bigger

The Royal Canadian Legion’s Troop Morale Fund was set up in January 2007 to buy US dollar gift certificates so that our troops in Afghanistan can get a free cup of coffee and a doughnut every two weeks. By 29 April 2009 more than $400,000 dollars had been collected from branches and donors across Canada.


Physical Activity for Health, Fitness, and Performance

Physical activity plays a key role in being healthy, fit, and able to perform your best in operational settings. We can achieve many health benefits from doing physical activities that range from light (such as walking) to quite intense efforts such as longer distance running, weight training, or sprints.


Recognizing Great Volunteers in Canadian Forces Communities

Time, expertise, energies, and efforts – there’s no doubt that volunteers make invaluable contributions to Canadian Forces (CF) communities around the world. Director Military Family Services is pleased to announce that SISIP FS will be maintaining their level of financial support to VOREP for 2009-2010.

Name That Program Contest

With a goal of infusing energy into its French-language moniker, the Soldier On team has initiated a contest to select a more vibrant name. All members of the Defence Community and their families are invited to visit www.SoldierOn.ca / www.SoldatEnMouvement.ca between August 1st and September 15th, 2009 to submit a nomination or to vote for existing concepts.
