Hospital Comforts Fund Annual Report FY 09/10
This year marks the fourth anniversary of the Hospital Comforts Fund. Created in 2006, and funded entirely by the generosity of Canadians, the fund provides support to military members who have been hospitalized in excess of 48 hours as a result of an injury, illness, accident or surgery. It provides basic support by covering the costs associated with basic television rentals, basic telephone rentals, internet access, parking (up to $50 per month), as well as basic amenities.
In August 2009, responsibility for the oversight of the Fund moved from the PSP section to the Associate DGPFSS section. A review of all fund transactions was completed and the type of support provided by the fund was amended to improve consistency of delivery across the Canadian Forces.
